An interesting fact I learned today. Apparently horses hooves grow quicker in the summer than the winter. Something to do with the average temperatures being too low in the winter. Not something I would have ever really thought about but today it’s a useful bit of information to us.
Black Truffle has been recovering remarkable well since his hoof resection. The new hoof has been growing well the past three months and the vet has given the go ahead to start him doing some gentle exercise. He will be very glad to get out as all the box rest has sent him a bit mad! The vet did warn us that progress might be a bit slower over the winter due to slower growth but the horse seems to be made of iron and I’m sure continue to surprise us.
