Three of the four Racing Club horses run this pm; Born to Please and Black Truffle at Brighton and Misu Pete in the first race at Kempton this evening.
Truth to tell we will be hoping that the little bit of rain that seems to be forecast makes it to the South Coast this afternoon; both Born to Please and Black Truffle might prefer a little more ease, particularly Black Truffle who has not run on the turf for more than three years. But both have competitive chances, Born to Please won (decisively!!) off 48 at Sandown under Nicola last Wednesday and has been raised to 53 going forward and on the easy Brighton track shouldn’t be unduly inconvenienced by going over two furlongs further.
Over the last two months Black Truffle has steadily been running into form and has an each way chance off a mark that remains a fair way below his historical best; Brighton can be a tricky track on which to act on efficiently, particularly on faster ground, and the reality is we won’t really know the sp until he has done it.
Misu Pete is going up the Handicap and runs off 58 this evening in what is a competitive heat for his grade; he probably wasn’t in the best of form on his only start over a mile back in March and he is still competitively handicapped on his performances in the Spring of 2016; he has been in excellent form over the last three months winning twice and being out of the Winner’s enclosure only the once in six starts; he does need to keep himself out of the trouble that he often finds for himself but we are taking him to Kempton to run well.
