Marmajuke Bay ran well yesterday in a really competitive, quality handicap; probably in a really true run race of yesterday’s calibre he might not have quite got home over 14 furlongs on the easish ground having had every chance over two out and we will look to drop him back to twelve. If you go here you can see a video of the race.
This afternoon we take Leith Bridge for what is quite a modest extended five furlong handicap at Bath. There is not much getting away from him becoming not the most effective horse we have ever trained and, running off 39 with Nicola’s claim, he does need to show some improvement this pm; the ground and course at Bath should suit him but he does need to put his best foot forward.
At Newbury Threediamondrings runs for us for the first time having had a fair rest since being trained by Brendon Powell in the Spring. He is quite a nice horse who won at Lingfield last November and who should be competitive, perhaps on the AW surfaces again, as we work into the Autumn; he will improve for what he achieves this afternoon, which is perhaps something of a discovery mission for us.
