A really interesting day beckons; Miracle of Medinah runs in the £20k six and a half furlong Condition Stake on the fibresand at Deauville, the second race on their card the 11.55. It is self evidently terrible difficult to equate French form to the high end turf handicaps he has been running in at home and overlaying this is how he well he might act on the French version of the fibresand; and he has at least one quality person to beat in the shape of the Freddie Head and Maxime Guyon gelding Absalon. Mike has driven him over and the bold approach deserves reward, without a doubt!! And if ever a Rowdown person deserves to have things drop his way it is Miracle who has run well for so long and so consistently that he is still rated 90.
Back home we take Leith Bridge to Southwell for the second division of their seven furlong Handicap; as I touched on immediately before his last run at Bath he does need to put his best foot forward to justify keeping him in training and he did run with more promise on the Somerset downs keeping on at the business end of the race to be beaten just over three lengths. He has run on the Southwell version of the fibresand twice before in January 2016 and in February 2015, running adequately on both occasions; so we will have to see how he does today and will look to him to continue the bit of improvement he showed at Bath.
