Firstly I’d like to thank everyone that came to the yard yesterday to see the horses. We had a good turn out and for once this year the weather was on our side! We have a couple of new members now which is great and the message is beginning to spread. We were also bouncing round a few ideas how we can do more with the Club and what direction we are going in. If anyone has any ideas please share them with me. We will try and have another day at the yard later in the year but of course you are always welcome to visit the yard individually.
Going back to the horses, Misu Pete had a bit of a rough time at Nottingham. Pretty much everything that could have gone wrong did and I just don’t think he fancied it. I wouldn’t put any blame on William Carver, there wasn’t a lot he could do. He did sweat up a little before the race which is unlike him, at least when he is well. I think he is telling us he needs a holiday. He can have a few days out in a paddock this week which should do the trick. He won’t be off for that long; I can see him being ready to run again around the beginning of June.
Bird For Life will be running at Salisbury on Thursday. It doesn’t look like Ryan Tate is there so we will have to have a good think about a jockey. We know Bird wouldn’t get on with just anyone! We have to decide in the morning so I will let you know.
Also Born To Please is a likely runner at Newbury on Friday. The ground will be quick enough but as it’s a big day at Newbury on Saturday with the Lockinge, they will water to keep it safe. Born’s race is for Apprentices that have won 25 races or less. This means Jason Watson doesn’t qualify because he has ridden more than 25. It’s a bit of an issue; Born can be strong so we need someone competent. We will have a think
