Black Truffle’s race at Wolverhampton on tomorrow (Friday) doesn’t look the strongest contest and it will be interesting to see if he is versatile with trip now he settles better, so we will run him. If the ground came right at Yarmouth next week I wouldn’t be worried about going there too providing he seemed well in himself. Tomorrow’s race is a 5:20 and it’s an Apprentice race over an extended mile. Thore Hammer Hansen will ride him; he claims 5lb in the race which will be handy. He’s drawn 8 but I think he will break well enough to sit where he wants; behind the leaders would be ideal. If he’s very enthusiastic he may get to the front, in which case he might as well go on and hope he settles like Pete did when he ran at Wolverhampton. It’s not a race we can be confident of a result but it’s worth a try.
The other entries still stand next week at Yarmouth and Newbury but we aren’t getting much of the forecast rain so far. We will just have to wait and see.
I’m very happy to say there has been overwhelming support for Ensign Ewart
and we are sold out! I’m looking forward to seeing what he can do. I
will be going to the Tattersalls July Sales in Newmarket looking for
similar horses to have some fun with over the autumn and hopefully sell
on. If anyone else is interested in this kind of thing please get in
touch. The more support I can get before the sales the braver I can be
at the sales!
