A Mixed Day on Monday
A bit of a mixed day yesterday; Shufoog ran a race of a horse who was not quite right, travelling as the best horse in the race at Southwell before stopping pretty quickly; Black Truffle was caught out wide for the greater part of his race before being one paced in the straight; we will give both of them, particularly Shufoog, some time.
Q Twenty Boy though ran with a fair bit of promise in his first handicap, keeping on under the stands rail through the final third of the race to be third; the only downside of a nice performance is that he almost certainly won’t be eased; but he will improve and he should be an effective force in sprint handicaps in this sort of grade as we get into the second half of the Summer.
Little Aub and Bird for Life go back to Kempton tomorrow evening, Bird for Life going up in trip to sixteen furlongs for the first time at the track where he had done so well over the Winter.
