I was delighted with Bird For Life at Kempton last night. Second again but it was a great effort for her first attempt over two miles. She has become a very consistent filly and she has kept herself healthy though a tough period for the yard. It was a big step up from a mile and a half; we couldn’t be sure she would get it but she definitely did. Ryan was very pleased with her; he said they were a bit tight for room but she picked up well when they did get some space. He also said we should keep her at Kempton if we can and he is sure there will be less competitive two mile races than she ran in last night. I’ve had a look and there isn’t anything there for a while so she might have another go on the grass before we get back to Kempton. Her Lingfield run was encouraging enough to suggest she can perform on the grass. Something over a mile and six furlongs on a flat track would be perfect.
Misu Pete, Born To Please and Shamonix are all in on Monday (2nd July). Misu Pete and Born To Please are both in at Windsor. Misu Pete is a likely runner; Born To Please we will have a think about. Shamonix is in the same race as Born To Please at Windsor and she is in an Amature race at Wolverhampton. We will try and run her in one of the races, depending on which she can get in.
