Threediamondrings on Lingfield’s turf course this afternoon and Makhfar at Kempton’s evening meeting are our two runners today.
Threediamondrings is now a well handicapped horse having won for Brendon Powell over 12 furlongs on Lingfield’s polytrack and been competitive off 63 a little later in the Winter of 2016; he has not been a particularly easy horse to train and, although he hasn’t always had the right ground, the balance of his form is that he might be more effective on the AW rather than turf, but he did show the last twice that he is well capable of winning off this mark over a trip. He has been a tricky person in the past in terms of getting away and then takes a keen hold so the early part of the race will be one of the keys this afternoon
Makhfar runs off a four and a half month break off three pounds lower than when he won at Wolverhampton last June so he goes into this evening’s race with a competitive chance, again particularly so with Nicola’s claim; he will come on for what he achieves this evening and we are hoping he will have a good summer and autumn in similar handicaps on the AW.
Four runners at Newbury tomorrow evening and Bayston Hill at Epsom will make for a busy Thursday evening.
