We didn't run Mezmaar at Chelmsford yesterday evening and we are not going to run Bird for Life at Newbury this pm; nothing of consequence wrong with either of them but both gave an indication that they might not be 100% in terms of their health.
Arlecchino's Arc and Shamonix both run in the (inevitably!) last race at Kempton (which continues to be after 2100 even though Winter is just around the corner), their eleven furlong Handicap.
Arlecchino's Arc has been quietly and consistently improving over his last four runs since he returned to the track from a break over the Summer (witness the video below) and will just need to continue that to win this evening; but he could well do so and visually gave the clear impression on his last two runs that his first victory is not so far away; at a quarter the odds a place one vu of this evening's race is that he is something of an each way job for nothing.
Shamonix, whose form per se gives an impression of inconsistency, also has a chance of being involved provided she can run to the level of her win at Wolverhampton at the end of April and her second at Chelmsford at the beginning of August. Her inconsistency comes, at least in part, with an issue with her feet and the truth is it is not alway easy to predict how she will run but at some massive prices on the exchanges two each way singles and a reversed forecast might the right approach!
