It’s hard to know quite what went wrong with Shamonix last night but she didn’t fire. It’s been the case with a few of our horses at the moment so it could just be she is not feeling right. She has been on the go a while now so she will have a short break. Late December to January will be the months when she will have her best chance of winning again so we will bring her back for then.
It’s going to be quiet now for a while. Black Truffle is entered at Wolverhampton on the 1st November but there is no guarantee he will get a run. We will keep entering him; he will be the busiest horse through the winter and I’m sure he will win again.
Bird For Life will hopefully feel better soon but we will really struggle to find races for her. There is one race at Kempton suitable between now and Christmas but it’s on the 7th November and I’m not sure she will be 100% by then. It’s a real shame she couldn’t make it to Newbury because the race was run at a ridiculous pace and they all got very tired, bar the winner. I’m sure she would have been 2nd or 3rd if she had sat at the back of the field. After Kempton we have to look at the other all-weather, tracks which hasn’t been that successful up to now. We might have a chance at Lingfield over 2 miles and she has some form at Chelmsford too.
The weather has turned really horrible today and I think rain is on its way later next week. Born To Please has always liked it that way on the flat but jumping ground can be a fair bit deeper. It will be interesting to see if she can handle it. Newbury on the 8th November is still a viable target, it will be a good day out though I don’t think we should get too excited about the result!
