Shamonix didn’t get a chance at Wolverhampton. She actually broke really well but they always go flat out to the first bend and she couldn’t get far enough in front to safely move over. Stuck wide around there is an impossible position to be in. The only positive to take away is she has come back really well, physically. Usually she takes a long time to get over races but this time you wouldn’t know she had a race. Kempton have put on a new meeting next Thursday with a suitable mile and a half race. We will aim to run her in it if she seems healthy. Had we have known about the race before, we might have skipped Wolverhampton. We will prey for a good draw and maybe try and get Darragh Keenan back on if he is available.
We might finally see Born To Please hurdling next Tuesday. She is entered in a novice hurdle at Lingfield; it’s a track that very often comes up soft. The weather has been a bit brutal the last couple of days with flurries of snow and minus temperatures; some rain over the weekend would benefit us though (warm rain would be even better!). She has done plenty of jumping at home but this run will be purely educational.
Bird For Life’s race is also coming up; Kempton on the 5th December. At the moment there doesn’t look like any reason she can’t run. It will be a competitive race and she’s been off a while so we might not go there with our usual expectations. Whatever happens though there are some great races for her in January and this race she put her right for them.
