Born To Please ran another fair race on Wednesday at Newbury. She has come back with a few cuts and bruises, but nothing too serious. She also lost a shoe somewhere along the line.
It was a tough test for her and she will have learnt a lot. She is still very inexperienced and running against 19 other horses can be daunting, but she handled it very well. She jumped well, barring one mistake three out. This time she settled better and kept on galloping to the line; especially as they crawled most of the way round and then turned it into a sprint.
I hope everyone who went had a good day out; it’s always nice to have runners Newbury. The winner of our race, Rathhill looks a very smart horse; definitely one to keep an eye on.
We will let Born recover over Christmas and the New Year. We want to get her third run in soon though. We will look for races around the middle of January. There is a small possibility of going back to Newbury on the 16thJanuary. There are two Novice races on the day; a standard two mile Novice and a fillies only, two and a half mile Novice. Being her third run it will be hard to get a run in the two mile but she could get a run in the fillies only. We will make it a loose aim for now and see how things are closer to the time.
We will wish Bird For Life and Ellie MacKenzie the best of luck at Wolverhampton. The race is over a mile and a half and she is drawn 2. I can’t imagine she will make the most of her good draw but it’s nice to have it! Our confidence isn’t too high as she didn’t run great there before and the short home straight won’t necessarily suit her strong finishing style. Ellie will have her work cut out!
