Another winner for the Club! Bird For Life was brilliant yesterday at Lingfield. Off the draw we were worried but there was no need. She found her usually position at the back but she travelled so much better than usual. She stalked the field and Ellie could weave through the field as she pleased. When she asked the question Bird brushed the field aside like we’ve never seen from her before. She looked like she really enjoyed it. I’d put the improvement down to the quicker surface at Lingfield, she bounces off it; Whereas at Kempton she has to work a lot harder to pick up. The fast pace and constant turn of the track probably keeps her more interested.
We have declared Misu Pete to run at Doncaster on Saturday. The race is at 5:20; it’s an Apprentice race over 10 furlongs. We are going to put Georgia Dobie on board. She’s caught our eye over the winter. She rides well and is very tidy in a finish. She will claim 5lb in the race which will be very handy. It’s a very competitive race and the trip might stretch him but it’s worth a go. He’s drawn 15 of 18 which is much wider than we would want but we know he can break very quickly so he will be ridden very positively. Our only concern is the ground. At the moment it’s pretty much good ground. The clerk of the course doesn’t seem to think it will dry up too much but that could be an optimistic view. The weather is very drying. Good to firm would be just about expectable but if it goes firm we will pull him out.
