Both horses are declared on Friday.
Miracle Of Medinah goes in the 2:10, 6 furlong handicap. It’s a pretty hot race though only 11 declared so a few of the nice horses aren’t going. Also the ground is currently described as good which I find hard to believe. I’m sure it will be quick on the day with the weather we are having, so there could be the odd non-runner. We’ve put Fergus Sweeney down to ride him; he’s good at settling horses and he will look after him. He’s in great from but we haven’t geared him up completely for the race. We just want to see him settle, enjoy himself and finish the race well. Anything beyond that will be a bonus.
Misu Pete goes in the 5:30; a mile apprentice handicap. It is limited to riders who have not ridden more than 25 winners and he only carries 8st 7lb. Most of the jockeys we use don’t fit into that category so we are going with someone new. A girl called Isobel Francis who is apprentice to Jim Boyle. She has ridden out for us in the past and nearly came for a job with us once. She has only ridden 2 winners so she can claim a further 5lb off, bringing his weight down to 8st 2lb. The only concern we have with Pete is the ground though there is a bit of rain forecast on Friday afternoon. Wouldn’t it be nice if it rained between Miracle running and Pete. Somehow I doubt we will be that lucky!
