To my surprise Bird For Love didn’t get in at Wolverhampton so we will have to look elsewhere for her. Black Truffle didn’t get in at Lingfield either, though that is less of a surprise.
Because Misu Pete won an apprentice race he could run without a penalty (6lb) between now and Sunday, when he would run off his new handicap mark. We will find that out tomorrow but presumably he will go up at least 3 or 4lb, so running before that happens could be an attractive prospect. Pete is in great form and well capable of running again quickly but we were limited with options. Only one race looked reasonable; a mile handicap at Chepstow on Friday 26th July. The track is a bit tougher than Newbury but it’s essentially a galloping track which he would like. The ground is the only concern; they had a lot of rain last week but it’s drying up quickly. If there is any firm in the description we probably won’t go with it; having said that it’s worth leaving him in it for now just in case rain does come.
