We have a busy day on Friday, first we have Bird For Life in the 2:35 at Wolverhampton. The race is over 2 furlongs shorter than the one she won but I’m sure that won’t be a problem; she is showing enough pace to make moves up the field. It’s a slightly better race though and she is higher in the handicap so we will see how good she is. Drawn 11 of 11 is a bit of a pain but there is nearly 3 furlongs until the first bend, so Ellie has time to decide if she can get forward before the bend or more likely sit in and make her move down the back straight. Either way I hope she hasn’t been handicapped out of it.
Misu Pete comes next in the 3:45 also at Wolverhampton. His race is over the extended mile which he has run well at before. The reason we have gone back to the all-weather (besides the drying ground) is because he is now rated 10lb less on the all-weather than the turf. Although he is better on the turf it’s a huge difference and we feel he’s got more chance on his all-weather mark at the moment. He is drawn 7 which is wider than ideal, so he will need to get out the stalls quickly. If he does get a good position he has an excellent chance in the race.
On Friday evening Miracle Of Medinah will run in the 8:30 at Newmarket. It’s over 6 furlongs on the July course. He has run well on the July course all be it over 7 furlongs and a mile. It has a stiff finish which is why he never quite saw it out before but over 6 he should finish well. Being Newmarket it’s a very competitive race; Charlie Hills is sending an improving 3 year old in Qutob and David Elsworth has and good filly in Lady Dancealot. I still don’t think Miracle should be far away if he’s at his best though.
