MUR Club Update
We had a few disappointing results at Ffos Las and Salisbury. Starting with the positive, Bird To Love ran a great race to finish 5th but only beat 2 lengths. The ground was soft but very tacky and hard work; unfortunately we didn’t get the rain we were expecting which would have loosened the ground up. I think all the runners we had would have done better if the ground was easier to get through. But Bird did very well considering the competition was strong. The winner from James Fanshawe’s yard looked very smart. We might go a little further next time and I’m sure she will go well.
Born To Please never looked like she wanted to be there. The jockey put it down to the ground which I can half understand. When she has won it’s usually rained on the day; obviously she likes the ground loose. I think there is a slight attitude issue with her. She doesn’t seem to like crowding and she got very tightly squeezed on the rain. We will just try and find something else for her in a couple of weeks and hope to see a better show.
Poor old Black Truffle hasn’t had much luck recently. The saddle slipped up his neck which gave Ellie no real chance to ride a race. I know he was running out the back of the field but he looked comfortable on the ground and he ran on a bit. I think the trip is the key so we will give him another go over a mile.
Misu Pete just looked tired. I don’t blame him, he’s been so busy. It was a race too far but after running so well I was worth a try. He can have a short holiday now to freshen up.
Miracle Of Medinah is entered at Kempton on Tuesday. It looks a very hot race and we haven’t committed to it yet. I will let you know by the weekend what our plans are.
