Firstly the slightly sad news is Black Truffle hasn’t been training well of late; he’s pretty stiff and sore. For a horse that has run as many times as he has, he’s done very well. His joints can be sore from time to time but nothing he would complain about. Recently though he’s been moving worse than before and I’d suspect he has back problems. With his age and the miles on the clock I don’t think it’s worth trying to fix the problem so we will retire him. With a more laid back life style his aches and pains will go away; there’s no permanent damage. He’s not going to be leaving us though; I have recently opened a yard for myself to break in youngsters. I need an older horse to lead and teach them the ropes so he will spend his winters doing that and have long summer holidays (it’s alright for some!). If anyone wants to visit him you are more than welcome.
As for the rest of the Club horses, we are making plans for
them now. Born To Please is entered at Brighton next Monday
16th September and at Sandown on Wednesday 18th. As usual
with her it will all be ground dependant; we will know more closer to the
Misu Pete is going for the Amateur Riders Cambridgeshire! It’s at Newmarket on Saturday 21st September. I don’t know if he will definitely get in but it will be a bit of fun if he does.
I’d like to make a long term plan with both Bird’s to go to Newbury on the 25th October. It will probably be the last big day we have there this year. In the meantime though they can both have a run. Bird To Love might go to Southwell next Thursday 19th September and Bird For Life will probably go to Lingfield on the 3rd October.
