There’s some bad news I’m afraid; Miracle Of Medinah has picked up another injury. It’s actually the same injury he had last year. There is a hole in his suspensory; it is a little worse than last year but with time he will recover to race again. We usually give him the winter off anyway but he is starting his holiday earlier than planned. Now he is down in the handicap I thought we might get a win out of him before the end of the year but we will have to be patient. He is still a horse to look forward to; he runs well fresh so maybe we can start next year off with a win. If all goes well we will aim him for Newbury again; 7lb down in the handicap and maybe a claimer on board we wouldn’t be far away.
Back to current plans; we are going to aim Bird For Life and Bird To Love for Newbury on the 25th and 16th October. There is a two mile Apprentice race on the 25th and a mile and a half Ladies Amateur race on the 26th. I’d favour the Amateur race for both of them if we can find the right jockeys. They aren’t rated very high so they might not get in; we will find out closer to the time.
Born To Please will be entered in very turf race she qualifies for between a mile and a mile and a half. There is a race at Bath on the 16th October but it’s only over a mile. We could try a pair of blinkers on her to sharpen her up. There is also an Amateur race at Nottingham on the 30th October which Ciaran could ride her in. She could run in both if she comes away from Bath sound.
