It was a shame Newbury was abandoned as it usually where we get the biggest Club atIt was a shame tendance. We will make an effort to run at as many of the Newbury meeting as we can this year. It was probably best Born To Please didn’t run though. She does love rain softened ground but it must have been pretty extreme and in the company she would probably have struggled. We have put her in an Amateur race for Military riders at Sandown this Friday 6th March. The race is at 2:55 and it’s over 2 miles. We’ve never run in this sort of race before but it won’t be the strongest race and there might not be that many runners. We’ve been advised a Mr. Nathan Rahman is a talented rider and would be able to claim 7lb off her back which is handy. The weather is so unsettled it’s hard to predict the ground but I’d say we will run whatever it turns out to be. I’m sure it will be a good day out.
Somehow Bird For Life got in at Kempton on Wednesday. The race is at 5:45 and it’s over 1m 4f which is plenty sharp enough for her these days. With Ellie MacKenzie out of action, Isobel France will ride. She’s never ridden this Bird on the track before so I’d say she might have a shock! Particularly if she tries to make a plan! They’re drawn wide in 10 so it will be the same old routine; run around the back and see how many she can pick off in the home straight. Isobel doesn’t know the filly and will probably find her hard work this time (as all jockeys have done first time) and the filly will probably be a bit short in the fitness department so we aren’t going there expecting too much.
