If you follow this link you will be able to see the statement that Ms Phelps made yesterday.
The sentiments and the intentions are fine, absolutely fine and commendable; but I would repeat that I, and I know that this applies to the majority of Trainers in the Valley if not throughout the Industry, really do need specific clarification of the assistance that the Chancellor properly announced at the beginning of last week; as we come out the otherside of this national tragedy the retention within the Industry of the skilled and well qualified Staff is going to be essential if the economic contribution that racing makes to the national economy is maintained; ie the 'recovery' that Ms Phelps articulates.
You will probably have seen that Irish Racing that, hitherto, had been operating essentially normally but 'behind closed doors' has now been cancelled until the 19th of April at the earliest. An inevitably development, probably, but still not great news.
But it is definitely not all doom and gloom; the string are on the move everyday; and are looking great in the much welcomed early Spring sunshine.
