by Mullionmileanhour ex Smart Ass ( Shinko Forest )
By a quite unfashionable sire, Mullionmileanhour, Mistry is the third offspring from the Mare, Smart Ass, that Mark has trained; the first two, the Group Three winning Miracle of Medinah and the multiple AW sprint Handicapper winner, Misu Pete, have both been successful for, and given a lot of pleasure to, their Owners.
Mistry has made a slightly slower start to racing career than these two and made just one racecourse appearance in a seven furlong Kempton Maiden in October 2015 before sustaining an injury to one of her knees. She has come back into work during August and Mark put her back on the track in a six furlong Maiden Auction at Lingfield in the second week of November where she ran well for a long way before lack of race sharpness told in the final furlong.
The Yard have introduced her to AW Handicaps and she finished second in a Kempton iteration over six furlongs in the last week of January; this was an improved performance against a well handicapped Winner and you can see a video of the race on our Home Page and scrolling down to the Tweet Box at the bottom right of the page; she followed this by a further improved performance to finish second, on unfavourable terms, beaten a length and a half, by a 72 rated rival in a Lingfield Maiden in the second week of February.
Unfortunately (all the more so because she was improving) she picked up a small injury on her next start at Chelmsford at the end of February; returning to the track at Wolverhampton at the end of October 2017 she ran a quietly promising race under the circumstances. She then showed the benefit of this run by winning an Apprentice Handicap in the middle of November under a well judged ride from Nicola Currie; you can see a video of this race here.
