2011   Bay   Gelding
by Bushranger (Ire)  ex  Let Me Shine (USA)  ( Dixie Union (USA) )

Owner:  Roemix Limited

Purchased as a yearling by Blandford Bloodstock for Shadwell Farms, Makhfar is out of a good class five furlong two year old winner and whose Grandam is a half sister to the top class/Group winning Two Year Old and Broodmare Aviance; he is also closely related to the Prix Cadran winner, Chief Contender. Trained by John Gosden for Sheik Hamdan he won a good class six furlong Maiden at Doncaster in June 2014 before being bought privately by Roemix.

Well trained by Kevin Morgan he won a mile Handicap on Chelmsford's AW surface last November and has run consistently in slightly better class Handicaps since; he came to Rowdown in February and made his debut for us in the second week of March in a similar mile Handicap but restricted to Apprentices at Chelmsford, running well to be beaten just two and a half lengths going steadily on at the finish; after finishing fourth under Liam Keniry at Kempton he then went extremely close being beaten a head, to winning an Apprentice Handicap at Wolverhampton at the beginning of May, just not quite getting up under one of Richard Hughes' Apprentices, Nicola Currie; he followed this by winning an extended mile Handicap at Wolverhampton at the beginning of June under a strong ride from Steve Drowne; if you follow this link you can see a video of this race.
