Victory Sound at Wolverhampton
Monks Mead and Conquest of Power ran respectable races at Lingfield yesterday evening; both being beaten just on four lengths; Monks Mead gave a distinct impression that eight furlongs these days is too short.
Conquest of Power had every chance on
turning in before being one paced over the last furlong; coming back in
trip might be on the agenda; at this level and in this grade he is
competitive although not as consistent as we might like and, without
running badly, he didn't quite build on what he achieved on his comeback
run at Wolverhampton.
Victory Sound runs in the Second Division
of Wolverhampton's seven furlong Handicap (7.25); he is now a well
handicapped horse and remains on 51, off which he ran well at Ffos Las
to be third; and before that, off 52, to be third at Lingfield;
clearly the favourite has a significant chance and we might have around
five pounds or thereabouts to find on very recent form; but we have as
good a chance as everyone else and our guy should run well from a
decent draw and we hope we have a cracking ew chance with a field now
down to nine; he is fairly priced at around sixs and we equally hope
that he is an ew dabble to nothing; he should run well this evening.
