Very pleased with the performance of Ken Brulee who took advantage of the ease to win decisively at Chepstow yesterday; under an excellent ride from Rose. Hopefully he will not go up more than three pounds and, although he will find it harder off the higher mark, we hope that he will continue to be competitive in similar races; six furlongs on a robust turf surface is clearly just the job and we will look for something similar to yesterday before the rain finally does arrive.

Defiant Dream did not find the quick ground over the minimum trip on the Chepstow downhill undulations too much to her liking; both of those would form the reason but it would be true to say that she didn't run quite as well as we hoped she would; a return to an easier surface is clearly a priority and roll on the rains of autumn, for her at least.

No runners today; the Blog got the Ballot slightly wrong yesterday and Monks Mead does not go to Lingfield tomorrow; Arlecchino's Rex, Distillation and Lightenings Legacy do all run though, LL at Hamilton.
