Runners at Wolverhampton & Newcastle
Arleechino's Rex runs in Wolverhampton's twelve furlong Apprentice Handicap (1.31); and Victory Sound goes back to Newcastle for their seven furlong Handicap (6.45).
AR runs off 51 this pm compared to 52 from next week; a repetition of his last two runs over twelve furlongs gives him the best theoretical chance in the race by a couple of pounds over Amalou and Tiger Beetle and more over the rest; just as those last two runs the constraint is how he gets home over the 11th and 12th furlongs and the fractions over the first mile; if both of those do drop right he has a cracking chance of both being involved and winning; although this is probably reflected in the price of around 6/4; he should run really well and be involved.
Slightly harder to sum up Victory Sound who is up just two pounds for winning over the c&d four weeks ago; he is still clearly competitively handicapped; very tightly handicapped this evening with no more than 2lbs between 12 of the 13 including our guy; and he has to show that the reason he didn't replicate his Newcastle winning run at Kempton lt was because he didn't particularly like going right handed; in all of this he is probably not overly generously priced tis evening at around fives; but he should run well in a particularly competitive handicap; the race will turn on the way the race is run over the first five furlongs or so.
No runners tomorrow or Sunday; Defiant Dream, Bold Betty, From The Hip and Ten Cuidado are all engaged at Kempton on Monday evening with a declaration deadline of 10am tomorrow.
